We’re thrilled to announce that Blue Zoo have secured £30 million of funding from Chinese investor, China UK Animation Company (CU Animation).
This investment will be used to launch Lanzu, a joint venture between us and CU Animation. This is an important partnership that will enable us to develop innovative new content in the UK, suitable for a global market, and will speed up the process of getting projects into production (which usually takes years!). It also allows us to further invest in people, which is so crucial to us as champions for home grown talent.
To begin with Lanzu will provide non-exclusive funding for the development and production of at least six new projects, including an animated feature film. The first project is scheduled to go into production later this year. Blue Zoo will also receive further investment via broadcaster match funding and tax reliefs.
This is a huge boost for the UK’s animation industry that we’re proud to be a part of and continue to support. We’re looking forward to an exciting future developing more world-renowned TV series, films, theatrical releases, animated shorts, VR experiences and a whole lot more.
“Blue Zoo stands out in terms of creativity, company ethos and commercial acumen, we are delighted to partner with them to enable and accelerate IP development and content production, supporting both Lanzu and Blue Zoo’s international growth.”
