Striving to create a fully inclusive studio

May. 25 2018

Striving to create an inclusive studio Last week we welcomed The Other Box into the studio for a truly fascinating insight into knowing our unconscious biases.

Hard to admit but we all have them, and only by recognising what they are can we start to make important changes. And it’s so important because they affect our perceptions, decision-making processes and whole workplace culture.

As an organisation committed to promoting inclusivity within the UK animation industry (and ultimately better productivity), it’s essential we practice what we preach. So we partnered up with The Other Box who ran a thoroughly engaging and thought-provoking diversity workshop called ‘Know Your Bias’.

Hats off to Leyya and Roshni from The Other Box whose workshop went down a storm with the Zooers, who all left armed with practical tips that can be applied straightaway at work. We’ve also just learned that they’ve been named on the Campaign’s ‘Future Creative Leaders’ list, so a massive congratulations to them!

A big thanks also to Access:VFX and Simon from The Mill, who introduced Blue Zoo to The Other Box at a recent event organised as part of NextGen Futures.

“It was eye-opening to learn how asking a seemingly innocent question to another person can be interpreted in a demeaning context. The workshop massively raised awareness of how we can push our workplace to be a truly welcoming and inclusive environment for each and every person.” Tom Box, Co-Founder
